Kurukshetra is the name of a city in the present-day Indian state of Haryana. The name literally means "Land of the Kaurava" after the Kuru clan. It is supposed to be the site of the Kurukshetra war, described in the Mahabharata. It is of great importance in Hinduism as this is where the Bhagavad Gita was taught to Arjuna on the battle field, just before the great battle. Rashtra kavi Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' had written a poem by the name of Kurukshetra. Thanesar or Sthaneswar, a historical town is located adjacent to what is now newly created Kurukshetra city. Local hearsay identifies the legendary "Kurukshetra" with a nearby obscure hamlet, and with the active abetment of the State Government, it is presently experiencing a tourist boom. Brahma Sarovar : Brahma Sarovar is a water body in Kurukshetra with a mythological connection. It is believed that this was the place from where Lord Brahma had created the mother Earth. This water body is 1400 meters in width and 1800 meter in length. The lake also finds its mention in the 11th century book Kitab-UL-Hind by Alberuni and is visited by devotees during a solar eclipse to take a dip.

Sannihit Sarovar : One of the most respected sites, Sannihit Sarovar is believed to be the abode of Lord Vishnu and the confluence of 7 sacred Saraswathies. On the day of Amavasya, devotes visit this lake to take a dip. This lake is surrounded by small temples dedicated to Goddess Durga, Laxmi Narayanm, Hanuman.

Bhadrakali Temple : Bhadrakali temple is a legendary temple known for its association with the Pandava brothers. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, the temple is believed to be the site where the Pandavas had performed several rituals before the Kurukshetra war against the Kauravas. One of the Skahti Peeths, this is the site where the lower limb of Goddess Sati had fell.

Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple : If the legends are to be believed Stahneshwar Mahadev temple is the site where the Panadava Brothers were blessed by Lord Shiva. It is said that the water of the adjoining tanks has curative properties and had cured leprosy disease of Banasura. Later in the evening drive back to Delhi.
